How are the mixed groups going

Week 2 is when you are supposed to be meeting with your ABCDE group and talking about the ideas the team came up with to get (and give) a lot of feedback. And week 2 is about over.

how is that going? Have you all made contact with your groups? Let me know if there are any problems. We need to pick time to get back together next week early for a chat about the ideas and the feedback so we can start developing one idea for August.

Post the times when you're free next week so we can find some overlapping times. A lot of hte discussion can take place on the blog too.

All the ideas will need more research - why will anyone use them, is it some kind of news that the community has identified a need for, will it get people who don't already use the news to be involved, etc. We will also need to start researching techie stuff - how we might pull off the ideas

my mixed group is slated to meet via AIM on Sunday.

next week: I'm free any night from Sunday-Wednesday. I'm also free anytime during the day on Monday and before 2pm on Tuesday. I'm going away to visit some friends and go to a couple concerts on Thursday though, and won't be back until Saturday or Sunday.

Glad to hear your group is getting together. ANy good ideas being tossed around? So far you're the only person I"ve heard from so looks like we can set up a time that suits us - ha ha. I'll send out an email to the group to get some more input.

So I just met with my mixed group. Regarding the "Best Week Ever" idea, people expressed concerns about getting the rights to use news clips. However if one news organization agreed to host and provide this (not sure if you were already suggesting this Laura), then it might work out, as it would give people a forum for exchanging opinions while also giving traffic to whatever news org hosts it. People did like the idea of a create-your-own-news show though.

Also we talked about the local election database idea. The common wiki argument was raised that people might publish false info, but we agreed that requiring sources would curb that. Requring people to come to a consensus before publishing something might help too. we also decided that giving a space to the candidate would be a good addition.
